Student Commitment
All students are expected to attend their lesson each week, with all of the equipment that they will need. During the lesson, the student must behave themselves, by following all of the teacher’s instructions quietly and promptly. Between lessons, it is expected that the student will complete all work set by the teacher, including regular practice. If a student fails to respond to these expectations, it is unlikely that they will succeed in their musical education.
Teacher Commitment
We promise to provide a wide range of exciting resources at each lesson to ensure that pupils are able to develop the requisite knowledge and skills to succeed in their musical lessons. Not all pupils work at the same level and, as such, we will ensure that the resources are differentiated to the specific needs of each pupil. We will always provide the support, encouragement and motivation to the pupils to ensure that they achieve well.
Age Requirements
We operate an equal opportunities policy and do not discriminate by age. However, it is unlikely that younger children will possess the ability or maturity to study a musical instrument. As a guideline, we do not advise that a child starts music lessons before the age of 7 (or the beginning of year 2). Whilst there are notable examples of success in children under this age, from our previous experience, younger children tend to struggle developing their musical skills. They generally become easily frustrated and may lose interest in their music lessons both in the short and long term. We recognise that this may not apply to all pupils and if you would like to discuss this further, please contact us.
Lesson Duration
The duration of lessons varies owing to the requirements of each individual pupil.
Typically, private pupils will have a 30 or 60 minute lesson. Lunchtime classes in schools will usually last 30 minutes for group lessons. After school classes are usually 60 minutes.
Lesson Fees
Lesson fees are set according to the subject and duration of the lesson. All of our fees are reviewed annually and are valid between the 1st September until 31st August the following year. Fees are payable for every scheduled lesson unless cancelled more than 72 hours in advance. Our scale of fees can be viewed here.
Payment of Fees
Private Students are invoiced on or around the 1st day of the month for the lessons due to take place that month. School Students are invoiced at the start of each term for the lessons due to take place that term.
Invoices should be settled on or before the first lesson of the period by Cheque or BACS Transfer. Cash payments are not ordinarily accepted.
